I’ve always had a passion for boats and the sea and this led me to pursue a career on the water. I started out dinghy sailing as a child, before progressing to yachting in my teens. I went on to log many thousands of miles of coastal and offshore cruising/racing off the south coast of England. In 2006, I qualified as an RYA Dinghy Instructor and began instructing professionally.
Having started out as a sailor, I found myself spending increasing amounts of my professional time afloat in powerboats, becoming an RYA Powerboat instructor in 2011. I joined the RNLI in 2012, as a volunteer crew member on an Atlantic 85 Inshore Lifeboat. I spent nearly 8 years on the crew, rising to command the lifeboat as a Helm, as well as becoming the Lifeboat Training Coordinator and Trainer Assessor. I was also part of the RNLI National Flood Rescue team and qualified as a Flood Water Rescue Technician and Boat Operator
Nowadays, I am an RYA Advanced Powerboat Instructor and freelance powerboat skipper. Since 2015, I have spent my winters instructing in the classroom, delivering RYA Shorebased courses (Navigation, VHF radio & First Aid) to a wide range of people and organisations.
Over the years, I have worked with a wide range of clients. From individual private clients and boating clubs, to large organisations in both the public and private sectors, I can cater for a variety of needs. Below is a selection of some of the valued clients I have worked with.
Please note, due to the ongoing restrictions still in place in Scotland, face-to-face training continues to be suspended until further notice.
We look forward to getting back out on the water and in the classroom as soon as possible. In the meantime, please get in touch for information or advice and check out the online courses we have available.
