Guided Hill Walking
Explore the Highlands of Scotland
At Coast and Cairn, we are fortunate to be based in the Highlands of Scotland, one of the wildest areas in Europe. Our location, near the Highland capital of Inverness, means we have literally a lifetime’s worth of hill walking opportunities on our doorstep. From the rugged North-West Highlands to the vast Cairngorm plateau, there is a huge variety of landscapes to explore and we are here to help you achieve your hill walking ambitions.
Whether your goal is a specific Munro or a particular range of hills, we can help plan an itinerary to suit you. As well as day walks, the Highlands provide a wealth of multi-day backpacking opportunities, allowing you to experience the joy of wild camping. Spending a night in the hills is always a memorable experience and allows you to explore further off the beaten track. If you’re new to this activity, we can introduce you to the additional skills required and plan an exciting journey for you.
Most of our guided hill walking takes place within an hour’s drive of Inverness, which serves as the gateway to the Highlands and is readily accessible from the rest of the UK by road, rail and air. We keep our group sizes to a maximum of 6 people, ensuring a personalised service for everyone.
We are a member of the Mountain Training Association, the national body that represents climbing, walking and mountain leaders. The organisation promotes best-practice and provides continued professional development training for its members, ensuring you receive high-quality guiding.
If you don’t have a particular objective in mind or you’re new to hill walking, we have plenty of suggestions for fantastic days out in the hills and can organise all the details for you. Where possible, we use public transport to access the mountains and the Highland railway lines offer some great opportunities for unique walks.
