The RYA Powerboat scheme is aimed at anyone who uses a powerboat, for work or pleasure. Applicable vessels include RIBs, dories, sportsboats and launches, up to a maximum of about 10m long and without accommodation, cooking facilities, toilets etc.
Using the tried and tested RYA methodology, the Powerboat scheme takes people from complete novice to the highest levels of competency. For many people, Powerboat Level 2 is the gateway into the scheme and this is a justifiably popular course. Along with the Advanced Powerboat Certificate of Competence, Powerboat Level 2 can be commercially endorsed, for those who aspire to working on the water.
Using our 6.5m RIB as a training vessel and the Cromarty and Moray Firths as our operating area, we have the perfect package to deliver high-quality powerboat training. Beyond the entry-level courses, the scheme is progressive, with each course building on a student’s existing skills, either from previous courses or accumulated through experience. Supported by the appropriate shorebased courses along the way, this ensures a comprehensive learning experience.
Please note, due to the ongoing restrictions still in place in Scotland, face-to-face training continues to be suspended until further notice.
We look forward to getting back out on the water and in the classroom as soon as possible. In the meantime, please get in touch for information or advice and check out the online courses we have available.
